Hollywood Unites for Haiti
This non-profit organization recognizes the unique opportunity that Hollywood has in raising awareness about Haiti.
Hollywood Unites for Haiti (HUFH) founder Jimmy Jean-Louis says: "Haiti has suffered many setbacks in its rich history and yet the Haitian people have never lost the character to face adversity with creativity, resilience, and community."
So much needs to be done in Haiti.
HUFH has chosen to focus its efforts on
sports and culture to brighten the hearts and
minds of kids and encourage them to build
confidence, competence, and community whilst
they learn invaluable life skills and
citizenship.
HUFH projects include creating sports and arts programs in areas where there are none; providing existing grassroots organizations already promoting sports and cultural activities with equipment, supplies and funds to accomplish their goals; and linking these grassroots organizations so as to provide strength in numbers, and efficiency in teamwork.
They as the new generation will be the glue which strengthens their country, and yes they will have fun along the way!
The Organization of American States
The Organization of American States (OAS) is
the world’s oldest regional organization,
dating back to the First International
Conference of American States, which was held
in Washington, D.C. from October 1889 to April
1890.
The OAS was established to
achieve among its member states, as stated in
Article 1 of its Charter, “an order of peace
and justice, to promote their solidarity, to
strengthen their collaboration, and to defend
their sovereignty, their territorial integrity,
and their independence.”
Today it comprises the 35 independent states of the Western Hemisphere and has granted permanent observer status to 63 states, as well as to the European Union. The OAS constitutes the principal political, juridical, and social governmental forum in the Hemisphere.
The OAS uses a four-pronged approach to effectively implement its essential purposes. The Organization’s four main pillars––democracy, human rights, security, and development––support each other and are intertwined through political dialogue, inclusiveness, cooperation, and legal and follow-up instruments that provide the OAS with the tools to maximize its work in the Western Hemisphere.
The Pan American Development
Foundation is an independent affiliate of the
OAS.
